De Chambray

De Chambray is the third and final phase of the Fort Chambray redevelopment project, situated within the historic 18th-century fortress overlooking the Gozo Channel in Għajnsielem. This phase aims to blend heritage conservation with modern living by introducing a 5-star aparthotel featuring 64 en-suite rooms and 50 serviced apartments, alongside 105 high-quality residential units. The development also includes a new public piazza and landscaped pedestrian areas, enhancing the site’s communal spaces. Additionally, two levels of underground parking spaces will provide space for private and public use.

A significant aspect of this phase involves the conservation of the historical Structures found within the site. The British Barracks are set to be relocated and form an integral part of the new development, with the building aligning itself to the Knight’s Barracks found along the main axis and accommodate the hotel building. Other historic buildings, such as Dar it-Tabib and the Knights’ Barracks, will be restored and repurposed to house hotel amenities, including retail outlets, restaurants, and conference facilities. This approach seeks to preserve the Fort’s historical essence while providing modern accommodations and services.
